My new piano album, "Sixteen Sonic Solos" dropped on May 30th, 2025.
In the last couple of years, I've found myself not so much trying to play flashy, but rather going deeper into the sound, touch, dynamics, and arrangement of songs. If you think you're hearing Blues creeping into my playing often, you're right. It's a language I've loved since I was a teenager.
"Sixteen Sonic Solos" is on the jazzy side, but perhaps not exactly a jazz album. I included ten well-known pop/rock songs, two originals (because hey, I am a composer), two jazzed-up versions of classical pieces, and two tunes that come from the jazz world. The album was recorded on the nine-foot Steinway piano at Samurai Hotel Recording in NYC, engineered by David Stoller.
