So So I'm down in the laundry room. While my clothes are in the dryer I've got my Air Pods in and I'm listening to jazz. I'm listening to Richie Beirach's trio play "Autumn Leaves." There are many great jazz versions of this tune. I took some piano lessons from Richie way, way back and I had not heard his version. It's powerful and the groove is very strong. As I listen carefully, I hear that the drummer's accents are just in front of Richie and the bassist. It doesn't sound sloppy, but more like a grace note that gives it strong forward motion. He's a powerful player anyway and so it all makes sense. What a great rhythmic idea! Before the tune ends I take out my airpods. But th-th-th-the drummer is still going! Wait......it was the dryer all along. While my clothes are in the dryer I've got my Air Pods in and I'm So I'm down in the laundry room.
